Family Stories
Capturing the beauty of ordinary days.
Children grow. Friendships evolve. Houses change. Seasons pass.
Most photographs are made to celebrate major events — weddings, birthdays or new arrivals — but some of the most meaningful memories are found in ordinary days.
Children playing in the garden. Sunday breakfasts. Friends gathered around a table. An afternoon at the beach. Quiet moments at home.
Working in a documentary style, I photograph families as they are, without elaborate poses or staged situations. For many years, I have been drawn to the quiet beauty of everyday life and the changing rhythms of childhood. The aim is simply to preserve moments that may seem ordinary today, but often become invaluable with time.
Based on the Isle of Wight, I work with local families and visitors wishing to create lasting memories of their time here. Although most sessions take place on the island, I occasionally travel for special projects and families interested in building a long-term photographic record over the years.
The small moments often become the memories we treasure most.
Photographs have a remarkable ability to bring us back to places, routines and relationships that gradually change over the years.
One session can create beautiful memories, but returning regularly creates something even more powerful: a visual record of family life as it unfolds.
Why photograph everyday life?
Sessions
Whether at home, outdoors or during a gathering, these are simply examples. Every family is different, and sessions can take place wherever and however life unfolds naturally.
Quiet moments and everyday rituals. Breakfast, reading, games, cooking, bedtime stories or simply spending time together in familiar surroundings.
At Home
Walks, beaches, woods, favourite places and small adventures. Whether close to home or exploring somewhere new, these sessions celebrate the freedom and spontaneity of being outside
Outdoors
Family visits, shared meals, children’s birthdays, weekends away or holidays on the Isle of Wight. A relaxed way to preserve memories of the people and moments that matter most.
